Excavations/Revelations – Exploring the Intimacy of Place
Anchor House of Art, 518 Pleasant St., Northampton, MA
June 5 – June 30, 2023
Stories of the Earth, its movements through time and civilizations, are held deeply in textures, tones, and colors. Whether it’s Northern horizons that share beginnings and be-comings of our planet, or Southern cradles of early thought, we find the details of places that share intimate moments of process.
My friend Rhea Banker and I, drawn to different landscapes, share a visual language in a common pursuit of engaging with places core to their creativity. I have spent many years exploring ancient sites of Italy, moved by aged pigments and architectural forms. Heading North, Rhea is drawn to the ancient stones of Greenland. She studies textures that have been evolving from the beginning of time.
This joint project reflects our shared passion for reading forms of the past and building personal bridges across time.
